Opening of the D-Day ’75 Exhibition at Shanklin Chine

On Sunday 19th May 2019, the Lord-Lieutenant officially opened the D-Day’75 exhibition in the PLUTO room at Shanklin Chine, focussing on the role played by Royal Marines & US Rangers – 2nd & 5th Battalions trained in Shanklin and Sandown.

A Service of Dedication & Commemoration followed where the Marine Attaché representing the US Ambassador, Lt Col Michael Skaggs planted a tree.

Vice Lord-Lieutenant Sir Guy Acland Bt., LVO, DL attended along with deputy Lieutenants Lt Col Danny Fisher MBE DL and Lt Col David Langford MBE DL.
