Her Majesty The Queen, accompanied by the HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, visited Cowes, on Wednesday 25 July 2012.
The Queen visited the new Cowes RNLI station and heard a choir from Cowes Primary School perform a song especially written for her by music teacher Becky Bevan. Michelin-starred chef Robert Thompson presented the Royal party with a hamper of the Isle of Wight’s best produce and a specially created version for the Queen’s corgies. Timothy Harris of Isle of Wight Studio Glass presented the Queen with a commemorative glass bowl.
The visit formed part of the Queen’s and Duke of Edinburgh’s tour of the United Kingdom to mark the year of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The tour provided Her Majesty with the opportunity to express her thanks to people throughout the country for their continued support and loyalty.
